TARGET AUDIENCE: Non-Radiologist Physician Staff
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is intended for non-radiologist physicians who use fluoroscopy equipment in their professional practice. The goals of this training are to reduce radiation risks to patients and staff during procedures involving fluoroscopy; and to enhance the safety of both the patient and the fluoroscope operator by validating knowledge of operational procedures that can significantly impact radiation exposure.
At the completion of this course, staff will be able to:
- discuss radiation basics.
- specify sources of radiation exposure.
- describe radiation protection practices and devices that help to reduce risk to operators and patients.
- outline recommendations for optimizing fluoroscopic image quality while reducing exposure.
- identify high dose, high risk procedures.
- list factors which increase the risk of hazardous exposure and radiation induced injuries.
- state the process for fluoroscopic privileging for non-radiologists.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THIS COURSE
To attain certification, you must first register for this course by clicking the "REGISTER FOR COURSE" link located at the bottom of this page. As you read through the material on the course pages, you will occasionally be prompted to answer exam questions.
There is a total of 10 multiple choice questions presented in this course. You must achieve a minimum grade of 80% (8 correct responses) to receive your certificate.
When you have answered the last exam question, the Course Results page will display. This page will contain your final grade and allow you to immediately view/print your Certificate if you have achieved the minimum passing score of 80%. Once the course has been successfully completed, your Certificate will be available at all times from your Control Panel.
The course does not need to be completed in a single online session. You can log off at any point and return to the course at your convenience.
REGISTRATION
There is no registration fee for this course. Your registration includes two opportunities to pass the examination.
